At Your Halal Compass, trust is our primary coordinate. We understand that finding Halal food and prayer spaces is a matter of religious importance and personal peace of mind. Here is how we keep our community safe and our information reliable.

1. Verification Tiers

To help you navigate with confidence, we categorize our listings:

• Verified by Compass: These establishments have submitted valid, up-to-date Halal certification from recognized bodies.
• Community Reported: Listings added by users. While helpful, we recommend extra caution and personal verification for these spots.
• Muslim-Friendly: Places that may serve meat from Halal sources but also serve alcohol, or have a "pork-free" kitchen.

2. The "Halal First" Review Policy

Our moderation team reviews community submissions to ensure they meet our standards. We do not tolerate:

• Fraudulent Listings: Businesses claiming Halal status without any basis.
• Misleading Photos: Images that do not accurately represent the establishment's current environment.
• Disrespectful Content: We maintain a space of "Adab" (etiquette). Hate speech, Islamophobia, or sectarian vitriol will result in an immediate ban.

3. Reporting Inaccuracies

The Halal status of a restaurant can change overnight due to new ownership or supplier shifts.

• Report a Change: If you visit a listing and find it is no longer Halal, or the certification has expired, use the "Flag Listing" button immediately.
• Our Promise: We aim to investigate and update flagged listings within 48 hours.

4. Data Security

Your personal information—especially your location data used to find nearby food—is encrypted. We do not sell your data to third parties. We only use it to improve your "Compass" experience.

5. Disclaimer of Religious Responsibility

While we do our utmost to verify, Your Halal Compass is a discovery tool, not a legislative body. The final decision to consume or use a service remains the responsibility of the individual. When in doubt, always ask to see a physical certificate.
